Have you read Serena ? Moore County Area Libraries (MCAL)* are sponsoring a Community Read, encouraging citizens to read the same book, take part in discussions, lectures, and other events.
The book selected is Serena by Ron Rash, a novel set in a lumber camp in the mountains of North Carolina in 1929. The culminating event for the Community Read will be a luncheon and a performance of traditional music and stories of the Southern Appalachian Mountains by four-time Grammy award winner David Holt on Friday, March 26. It is one of the featured events of the PalustrisFestival. Tickets may be purchased here.
